The Health Information Specialist will be responsible for maintaining, organizing, and safeguarding all patient medical records, ensuring their accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of HIPAA regulations and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Responsibilities :
- Maintain and update patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
- Process medical records requests from healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other authorized entities.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of all medical records.
- Review medical records for accuracy and completeness, flag any discrepancies for correction.
- Organize and store medical records in designated filing systems.
- Generate and distribute reports on patient medical records as needed.
- Train staff on proper procedures for handling and storing medical records.
- Respond to inquiries regarding medical records in a timely and professional manner.
