Assistant Administrator

Shift : Full-Time

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Assists in the operation of the facility in accordance with Federal, State and local rules and regulations governing residential health care facilities; and in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the Governing Body.
  • Acts as a liaison with Governing Body, the medical staff, the Nursing staff and other professional and supervisory staff, through regular meetings.
  • Has operational oversight for all departments designated by the Administrator. Serves as Acting Administrator in the Administrators absence.
  • Helps to ensure that food, lines, medical equipment and supplies necessary for the efficient and safe operation of the facility are available in sufficient quantities.
  • Aids the Administrator in insuring that all equipment is maintained in operating order. For obtaining required repaired, servicing and / or replacement as necessary.
  • Provides adequate professional and para-professional personnel sufficient in number and commensurate with the needs of individual residents.
  • Maintains and adheres to a master staffing plan.
  • Prior to the admission of residents, participates with other designated personnel in determining the eligibility of applicants and the appropriateness of their placement.
  • Seeks to involve staff at all levels in developing and implementing an interdisciplinary approach to resident services in order to better serve the individual and group needs of the residents.
  • Encourages professional and respectful behavior on the part of the staff towards the residents.
  • Is readily accessible to residents, family members and staff for consultations, complaint resolution and information.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of policies regarding duties and performance of staff members in order to insure optimal care and safety of all residents / patients, including but not limited to , general supervision, employing and discharging of staff and on-going in-service education.
  • Assists with establishing written policies consistent with the stated purposes of the facility, the program of services provided, the physical environment and equipment, the number and qualifications of staff members and their job classifications and job descriptions.
  • Establishes standards of supervision for those employees designated as supervisors.
  • Assists with the review and evaluation of reports and recommendations received from the facilities consultant Is a member of the Core Continuous Quality Improvement Committee and an active participant of the CQI Committees insuring implementation of the recommendations of the committee.
  • Insures that all facility policies and procedures are reviewed and revised a minimum of annually as per Best Practice Committee schedule and as necessary.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of resident care policies and maintains an active role in the alteration of same when necessary.
  • Implements personnel policies and job descriptions; insures that they are understood by all employees. Delegates the authority required for the performance of their jobs to the Department Heads; communicates the lines of authority to staff members.
  • Assists with evaluating of the performance of each Department Head a minimum of annually and discuss the evaluation with the employee. Reviews employee evaluations with the appropriate Department Heads as designated.
  • Is responsible for employee safety and in-services governing the same.
  • Attends in-service education and / or seminars necessary to promote continuing education concerning, but not limited to, the field of long term care and the regulations governing same.
  • Assists the Director of Nursing with planning and conducting orientation programs for new Nursing personnel, Nurse Aide Trainee Certification programs and evaluation of same.
  • Maintains resident’s rights.
  • Maintains HIPAA privacy, security and confidentiality standards.
  • Follows all established policies and procedures.
  • Follows universal Precautions and Infection Control techniques.
  • Maintains Corporate Compliance standards.
  • Contributes to facility Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives.
  • Follows safety procedures by keeping areas free of hazardous conditions.
  • Economical and careful with supplies and equipment.
  • Attends all required in-services.
  • Comes to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrates dependability and punctuality.
  • Comes to work in neat, clean attire and consistently presents an appropriate professional appearance.
  • Performs any other necessary duties as assigned by Administrator
  • This individual continuously exhibits and fosters a spirit of teamwork, positive attitude and conflict resolution among co-workers.
  • Performs duties with measured accuracy and timeliness.
  • Sets high standards, seeking to “raise the bar”, exhibits commitment to strive for and exceed expectations.
  • Identifies actual or potential problems and devises an action plan for resolution. Implements solutions and monitors outcomes using judgment skills to choose the best course of action.
  • Effectively communicates, assists, and cooperates with other personnel and interdisciplinary teams. Exhibits an attitude of helpfulness, team spirit and support to all team members.
  • Acts as a source of direction to visitors, staff and external populations, i.e. : delivery staff, vendors, etc.
  • Represents the organization professionally.
  • Interacts positively with residents, family members, and visitors under a variety of conditions and circumstances.
  • Promptly reports all needs and concerns to the Administrator or designated alternate.
  • Provides direction for surrounding staff members, assisting them to perform their workload independently, and acting as a role model relative to professionalism, attitude, communication and personal presentation.
  • Accepts constructive criticism and direction while administering same to subordinates.
  • Promotes camaraderie with team members to unite all staff toward the common goal. Utilizes conflict management skills to move toward resolution of interpersonal challenges that affect the work environment negatively.
  • Goals :
  • Deficiency-free DOH survey related to nursing services
  • Quality measures for pressure ulcers, falls and restraints are below state and federal guidelines
  • Required monthly nursing staff meetings are achieved.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Current licensed nursing home administrator or actively pursuing
