Description

The Department of Theatre at North Greenville University is taking applications for an assistant.

North Greenville University is a teaching university of the South Carolina Baptist Convention and is a tobacco and alcohol-free campus. All NGU staff are expected to be orthodox Christians who have a strong personal faith and are role models in their piety and ethics. Staff are expected to:

• Agree to abide by the employee handbooks, including community standards agreements.

DESCRIPTION:

The hire will provide various assistance to the School of Theatre Faculty, Staff and Associate Dean of the College of Communication and Fine Arts.  This position is multi-faceted administrative support including special projects, office workflow, academic support, appointments, correspondence, proposals, budgets, data compilation, and records control all along assisting the Associate Dean as she leads the School of Theatre. The position requires a self-starter who can independently work on projects assigned while carrying out many daily functions of the department. This individual may perform duties of a sensitive and confidential nature and will ordinarily interact with students, department heads, and the public (community, parents, visitors, etc.). This position requires a grasp of the institutional structure, policy/procedure of NGU higher education, and a healthy appreciation for private Christian education.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Theatre Department Operations
    • Maintain office
    • Receive visitors and assist as necessary
    • Supervise student work study(s)
    • Purchasing of royalties, license agreements, and memberships
    • All ticketing functions
  • Lead in marketing all Theatre events
  • Track and promote donations and sponsorships
  • Lead on student recruitment for School of Theatre
  • Represent Theatre Dept. at various college fairs and Southeastern Theatre Conference
  • Coordinate and schedule all KCACTF respondent attendance and accommodations
  • Program summer camps for middle and high school students on campus
  • Assist Department Chair with budgeting
  • Theatre accounts payable
  • Maintain budget spreadsheet
  • Track all purchase orders
  • Track and record all receipts
  • Facilitate work orders for MAC, CES and IT
  • Coordinator for all Theatre printing projects with NGU Print Hub
  • Train and supervise house managers for shows
  • Cultural Events
    • Create and maintain CEVT master calendar and Swords Up app calendar
    • Ticketing of all events
    • Scheduling ushers for performances
    • Recording student names and uploading ID scans
    • Assist CEVT Coordinator in ensuring student attendance at Cultural Events
  •  Plan Departmental Events
    • Senior Project Presentations
    • Christmas Party
    • Billingsley Awards Banquet
    • Theatre Guest Artist Events

Physical Requirements

This position requires sitting for long periods of time, as well as some bending and stooping when working with production execution and special projects. This position does have some limited lifting involved but not more than 10 pounds at a time. Quite a bit of finger/hand dexterity is involved in regards to typing and/or filing and light handling of hardware. The overall setting of the job is in an area conducive to a normal office environment with minimal exposure to adverse conditions.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

This position is a full-time, non-exempt position in the Theatre Department reports to the Associate Dean of the School.

 WORK SCHEDULE

The work schedule is M-Th 8:30 to 5:00 and F 8:30 to 2:00. However, there is some flexibility. Night work and weekends are involved during show weeks.

 

Qualifications


  • High school diploma required.
  • Two years administrative support experience required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Must possess composure, tact, diplomacy, and discretion in confidential matters.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and general office equipment
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to anticipate and plan for College activities.
