Job Title: Intermediate Elementary Teacher (Grades 3-5)
Location: North Harrison Elementary School
Reports To: Building Principal
Job Summary:
The Intermediate Elementary Teacher is responsible for creating a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for students in grades 3-5. The teacher will implement a standards-based curriculum, use data to drive instruction, and support students’ academic, social, and emotional development. This position requires collaboration with colleagues, communication with families, and a commitment to continuous professional growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state and district academic standards.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners, including students with special needs, English learners, and high-ability students.
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and a positive growth mindset.
- Integrate technology to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Collaborate with colleagues in grade-level teams and professional learning communities (PLCs) to improve instructional practices and student outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff to support student success.
- Implement school and district policies related to student behavior, attendance, and academic expectations.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices.
- Support school-wide initiatives, events, and extracurricular activities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field.
- License/Certification: Valid Indiana teaching license in Elementary Education (K-6) or a transferable license from another state.
- Experience: Prior teaching experience in an elementary setting preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into instruction.
- Effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
Working Conditions:
- Typical school environment, including classroom and occasional outdoor activities.
- Requires standing, walking, and working with students in various settings.
- Some evening or weekend commitments for school events or parent conferences.
