Camp North Homes is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Food Services Coordinator to oversee all aspects of camp food service operations. This role is responsible for menu planning, food preparation and service, storage monitoring, food ordering, and record-keeping. Additionally, the coordinator will ensure compliance with USDA guidelines and be responsible for submitting reimbursement requests through the USDA food program.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Service Management & Operations
- Develop nutritious, balanced menus that meet USDA guidelines and accommodate dietary restrictions.
- Oversee the preparation and serving of meals to campers and staff, ensuring proper portioning and food safety.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary food area, following all health and safety regulations.
- Ensure proper food storage and inventory tracking, monitoring expiration dates and preventing food waste.
- Coordinate food ordering and deliveries, ensuring all supplies are stocked and available for meal preparation.
Compliance & USDA Reimbursement
- Keep detailed records of meals served, inventory, and food expenses.
- Ensure compliance with USDA Child Nutrition Program and other relevant food service regulations.
- Complete and submit USDA reimbursement documentation accurately and on time.
- Stay updated on USDA food service policies and adjust practices accordingly.
General Camp Support & Team Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with camp staff to coordinate meal schedules and distribution.
- Assist with special dietary needs and ensure proper labeling of allergen-sensitive foods.
Location: Camp North Homes
Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 8:00am-1:00pm
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old with a valid Minnesota Driver’s License.
- High school diploma or GED required; formal training in food service management, nutrition, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in food service operations, meal planning, or kitchen management is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of USDA food program regulations and reimbursement procedures is a plus.
- ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain) is preferred.
- Strong organizational, record-keeping, and administrative skills.
- Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be non-judgmental regarding the lifestyle, race, and economic status of clients.
