Position Summary
The Mental Health Practitioner will provide direct mental health services, including individual and group skills training, to clients in a variety of settings with the goal of improving their overall functioning. Under the supervision of the Chief Operations Officer and clinical supervisor, this position involves the development and implementation of treatment plans, documentation, and coordination of services for clients. The practitioner will also engage in communication and collaboration with family members, schools, and other relevant parties to support client progress and well-being.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coordination and Communication
- Develop and maintain effective written and verbal communication with clients, families, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate with schools, service providers, and other external agencies on behalf of clients, ensuring consistent and collaborative care.
- Actively participate in case coordination, advocating for the client’s needs and maintaining professional relationships with team members and community resources.
Client & Family Interaction
- Adhere to confidentiality guidelines and mandatory reporting laws, ensuring that client information is handled in compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Develop, implement, and review individualized mental health treatment plans for each client, in collaboration with the clinical supervisor.
- Provide psychoeducation and resources to families, schools, and clients to improve mental health functioning and educational progress.
- Assess and identify clients’ strengths, needs, and goals to tailor services to support individual growth and recovery.
Documentation and Compliance
- Complete all necessary paperwork, including progress notes, treatment plans, and assessments, in a timely, accurate, and professional manner in accordance with agency guidelines and state regulations.
- Ensure proper documentation for billing purposes, ensuring that all services are appropriately recorded and meet required deadlines.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training, attending required educational sessions as mandated by the agency or licensing bodies.
- Maintain accurate client records, ensuring all documentation is signed and completed in compliance with regulatory standards.
Working Conditions
- This position is primarily office-based, with occasional travel to schools, or community settings.
- Evening and weekend hours may be required to accommodate clients' schedules.
- The role involves interacting with individuals in high-risk or crisis situations, requiring resilience and effective stress management.
- Work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with diverse clientele, requiring a flexible and compassionate approach to service delivery.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Qualified Mental Health Practitioner
Relevant Coursework
- 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences/related fields**
AND one of the following:
- 2,000 hours of supervised experience in delivery of services*…
- Is fluent in non-English language of the clientele ethnic group…
- Is working in day treatment program
- Has completed a practicum or internship that focuses on direct interaction with adults or children served, and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields
Work Experience
- 4,000 hours of supervised experience in delivery of services*…
OR
- 2,000 hours of supervised experience in delivery of services*...AND receives clinical supervision as required by applicable statutes and rules from a mental health professional at least once a week until the requirement of 4,000 hours of supervised experience is met
Graduate Student Internship
- Is a graduate student in behavioral sciences or related fields** and is formally assigned by an accredited college or university to an agency or facility for clinical training
Master’s Degree
- Holds a master’s or graduate degree in behavioral sciences or related fields**
OR
- Holds a bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences or related fields** AND completes a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults or children served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields**
Vendor of medical care
- Knowledge of parenting skills, child care methods, child development, home management and housekeeping skills, etc.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Good decision making skills and the ability to work with minimal direction.
- Strong interpersonal and interviewing skills required.
- Ability to work with resistant clients; be non-judgmental in regards to lifestyles and/or economic status.
- Desire to work with high-risk youth and families in crisis.
