What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Tech position at North Kansas City Hospital?
Summary
- The Technician completes daily data entries for hyperbaric treatments and completes regulatory logs at required intervals.
- The Hyperbaric Tech covers the additional duties as a Hyperbaric Safety Coordinator: "oversee the safety and regulatory requirements of the hyperbaric program in collaboration with the Nursing Director."The Technician must complete an approved Hyperbaric Oxygen Safety course and should learn how to perform Transcutaneous Oximetry testing the unit.The employee should understand all safety aspects of the chamber.
- The Technician should complete all Hyperbaric safety precautions with all patients, and he/she should ensure that each patient is thoroughly evaluated before entering the chamber.
- The Technician is responsible for conducting quarterly safety drills in the Hyperbaric unit, attending hospital safety committee meetings, and maintaining departmental compliance with the Undersea Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS).
- The technician should work towards and maintain a Hyperbaric Technician Certification.The employee should complete the Hyperbaric training at ATMO in San Antonio or a National Board of Diving & Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) approved hyperbaric medicine introductory training course.
EXPERIENCE: Successful completion of an approved NBDHMT HBOT course. Pre or post hire completion of an approved Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Safety course. Pre-hire course completion must be within the past 5 years. One year experience as an EMT/Paramedic or LPN
OTHER: Medical Terminology, basic computer skills, and prior supervisory experience preferred.
LICENSE/CERT: Required: CHT (Certified Hyperbaric Technologist), BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association), CRTT (Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician)
