SELF-DETERMINATION PROGRAM (SDP) SUPERVISOR

SCOPE: Responsible for the implementation and the administration of the Self- Determination program as well as the oversight of the SDP specialized unit.

SUPERVISION: Receives general supervision from Director of Consumer Services

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

• Creates and assists in the implementation of processes that provide oversight of the expenditure of self-determined funds and the achievement of participant outcomes over time.
• Develops and maintains training materials on relevant elements of Self- Determination Program
• Conducts orientation and/or training for regional center staff, consumers, and families to ensure understanding of the principles and mechanics of the Self- Determination Program as it relates to the planning process and the management of budgets, services, and staff.
• R epresents the agency and participates in community outreach, presentations, meetings, and other activities. Will serve as primary point person for SDP Local Volunteer Advisory Committee
• Creates, maintains, and distributes informational material, policy and procedures for use by regional center staff, consumers, service providers and families.
• Provides consultation to SDP staff in matters related to working with Independent Facilitators and Financial Management Services providers who can assist with the person-centered planning process, payments and provide employee-related services.
• Provides consultation to SDP staff in matters related to assisting participants with the need to transition in and out of the SDP and assists in the transfer of funds originally distributed to any budget category to another budget category or categories, as identified in statute and/or regulation.
• Provides consultation to SDP staff in matters related to traditional service delivery for non-SDP participants
• Assigns, reviews, and approves work of unit staff members.
• Hires, trains, directs and evaluates unit staff
• Performs administrative tasks as required.

EMPLOYMENT GUIDELINES:

Knowledge and Skills:

• Specialized working knowledge of developmental disabilities.
• Prior Regional Center (or related agency) experience preferred
• Possesses strong negotiation and conflict management skills
• Ability to understand and apply regulatory an statutory information
• Intermediate proficiency of Microsoft Office and related applications.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field
• Two years of related professional/leadership experience
• OR
• Master’s Degree in an unrelated field
• Three to five years of related professional/leadership experience
• Three years of professional experience should include service coordination at a Regional Center or related experiences
