JOB TITLE: Bus Monitor
REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
NLCS School Bus Monitor will ride a regular route in the AM & PM and when available, a Noon Shuttle as well.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The BUS MONITOR helps students on and off the bus by ensuring the student sits in their seat with age appropriate seat restraints.
The BUS MONITOR oversees the activities of special education students while on buses en route to and from school.
The BUS MONITOR maintains order on the bus.
The BUS MONITOR will offer assistance when necessary.
The BUS MONITOR notifies the driver of any significant changes with the student riders.
The BUS MONITOR assists substitute drivers with the location of all bus stops.
The BUS MONITOR will work alongside and take direction from the BUS DRIVER.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The BUS MONITOR is required to complete a pre-employment drug screen.
The BUS MONITOR must have possession and full normal use of both hands, both arms, both feet, both legs, both eyes, and both ears.
The BUS MONITOR must be able to lift students according to established guidelines.
The BUS MONITOR must be able to perform their job while standing/sitting and/or walking.
The BUS MONITOR must be free from any communicable disease that may be transmitted through airborne or droplet means or that requires isolation of the infected person.
The BUS MONITOR should have experience working with special needs children.
The BUS MONITOR should have knowledge of safe practices concerning school bus transportation.
