What are the responsibilities and job description for the Novice Mentoring Specialist position at North Little Rock School District?
The Novice Mentoring Specialist will be assigned to specific North Little Rock School District campuses to provide onsite, in-classroom support to novice teachers 20 hours per week during the school year. All mentoring activities will align with the current Arch Ford Novice Mentoring Support Plan for North Little Rock and will support current Novice Mentoring Specialist work in assigned schools.
Spend 20 hours per week (2.5 days) in classrooms of novice teachers at assigned campuses providing in-class coaching and feedback to support novice teacher effectiveness
Contract days will be during school months only - June and July will be off
Attend 7 days of professional development as requested (possibly a few days in June or July), including 2-day coaching training (if not completed already)
Support professional development taking place on assigned campuses, including PD provided by the Arch Ford Mentoring Team
Complete required documentation weekly of services provided
Collaborate with Arch Ford specialists, principals and assigned support teachers for novice teacher effectiveness
Align all activities with the Arch Ford Mentoring Plan for each campus
Skills & Competencies
Currently licensed as an elementary or middle school teacher in Arkansas (required)
Minimum of five years of licensed teaching experience in a public school (required)
Experience serving as a mentor to an intern or novice teacher (required)
Instructional coaching background (preferred)
Lead or Master Teacher designation (preferred)
