Salary Range: $46,000 - $62,000 (DOE) Extremely Competitive Benefits

Job Summary: North Logan City is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Planner I to join our Community Development team. This role involves performing professional planning tasks related to current and long-range planning. Key responsibilities include reviewing planning applications, completing zoning verifications, providing public information on planning processes, and coordinating development proposals. The Planner I will assist in shaping the city's growth while ensuring compliance with local zoning and subdivision regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide general planning guidance to the public, applicants, and stakeholders on policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Perform planning analysis for various projects to ensure compliance with zoning and subdivision regulations.
• Prepare professional written and oral staff reports for the Mayor, City Council, Planning Commission, and other groups.
• Assist in comprehensive long-range master planning efforts.
• Draft documents to educate and inform stakeholders about planning processes and regulations.
• Review site plans, conditional use permits, and rezoning applications.
• Coordinate with city departments to ensure development proposals align with city planning goals.
• Prepare agendas, public notices, reports, and meeting minutes for Planning Commission meetings.
• Perform research, analysis, and technical planning tasks to support community development.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, or any related field.
• One (1) year of urban planning experience (or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the role).
• Strong knowledge of planning principles, site development, and zoning ordinances.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret land use laws and ordinances.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Apps. Familiarity with GIS, Adobe CC, or AutoCAD is a plus.
• Effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

• Work is primarily performed in an office setting with moderate noise levels.
• Mental application requires attention to detail and problem-solving.
• Occasional evening or extended hours are required for Planning Commission and City Council meeting attendance.

Special Requirements:

• Six-month probationary period required after hiring date.
• Pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check required.
