What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at North Mankato, City of (MN)?
- Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; Monitor designated areas to recognize signs of danger. Warn swimmers regarding unsafe situations.
- Explain and enforce rules, regulations, and policies to ensure the safety of patrons. Handle discipline situations with courtesy and fairness.
- Respond quickly, intelligently, decisively, and in accordance with established emergency and accident management procedures. Perform first aid and CPR as required.
- Complete and maintain proper records and reports. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of all areas.
- Punctual, responsible and self-motivated; ability to work independently and possess energy and enthusiasm.
- Assist with swimming lessons. Teach swimming lessons and assist with private events.
- Attend all in-service trainings. This includes the mandatory preseason trainings in May.
- All other duties as assigned and appropriate.
Must be 15 years of age or older. Completion of Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (required). First Aid and CPR certification. Ability to stay alert and focused. Able to work outside for extended periods of time. Must pass a background check.
Water Safety Instructor Certification. Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficient in interacting with people of various ages from diverse backgrounds. Physically fit, strong and agile. Strong problem-solving skills. Available to work weekends and holidays.
HOURS OF WORK: Position involves 6-8-hour shifts up to 40 hours a week. The facility is open May 2025, and closes late August, 2025. Position requires additional time before the opening of the swim facility for staff training.
NATURE OF WORK: Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies. Opportunity to train as Manager on Duty.Salary : $14 - $17
