Major Job Function
MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Mowing. Operate mowers by mowing the parks and public lots. Utilitize trimmers to trim around trees and signs to maintain the appearance of the parks.
2. Landscaping. Level dirt for seeding and sodding, plant trees and flowers. Assist with trimming and removing trees in parks and boulevards, weed flower beds and assist in the installation of drain tiles.
3. Painting and Staining. Prepare all surfaces for painting park playground equipment and staining picnic tables and shelters. Prepare the interior and exterior of park buildings when painting facilities.
4. Clean-up and Maintenance. Perform general park clean-up and maintenance activities such as emptying trash cans, sweeping and cleaning shelters, picking up trash on the ground.
5. Cleaning and maintenance of the park restrooms including mopping and scrubbing sinks, toilets, floors, and walls.
6. Playground Equipment. Assist with the installation and maintenance of playground equipment.
7. Assist Staff when necessary.
8. Assist with trail maintenance including picking up trash, painting, trimming and general trail care.
Minimum Requirements for Position
1. Must be at least 18 years old.
2. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
3. Must have a valid Minnesota drivers license.
4. Must be able to perform general labor including frequently lifting and/or moving up to 75 lbs. and occasionally lifting and/or moving more than 100 lbs.
Supplemental Information
Under supervision, this position is responsible for the maintenance of park facilities. This position primarily consists of maintenance duties such as mowing, landscaping, building maintenance and playground equipment maintenance.
