Job Description:
North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Girls Tennis Coach to lead and develop the girls tennis program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for tennis, an understanding of the sport’s fundamentals, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive team environment. This coach will be responsible for teaching technical skills, promoting sportsmanship, and supporting the personal growth of student-athletes.
The Girls Tennis Coach will work closely with other coaches and staff to ensure the program aligns with the school’s educational values, focusing on both athletic and academic success. The successful candidate must meet all NFHS and MIAA coaching requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Leadership and Mentorship:
•Lead and mentor student-athletes, encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal development.
•Serve as a positive role model, promoting discipline, resilience, and integrity.
2.Practice and Game Preparation:
•Plan and conduct daily practices that focus on skill development, conditioning, and strategy for both singles and doubles play.
•Prepare athletes for competitive matches, teaching strategies and techniques to improve performance.
3.Player Development:
•Work with players to develop fundamental tennis skills, including proper technique, footwork, and game awareness.
•Provide individual feedback to help athletes improve their strengths and work on areas for growth.
4.Education-Based Athletics:
•Support athletes in balancing academics and athletics, ensuring they meet academic eligibility requirements.
•Communicate with parents, athletes, and school staff to monitor academic progress and provide support as needed.
5.Team Culture and Sportsmanship:
•Create a supportive and inclusive team culture where athletes feel valued and motivated.
•Promote good sportsmanship, ethical behavior, and respect for opponents, officials, and teammates.
6.Communication:
•Maintain open and consistent communication with athletes, parents, and the school community regarding team schedules, expectations, and events.
•Provide regular updates on individual and team progress, as well as upcoming competitions.
7.Safety and Wellness:
•Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including proper warm-up and injury prevention techniques.
•Stay informed about tennis-specific health concerns, such as injury prevention and rehabilitation.
8.Compliance with NFHS and MIAA Requirements:
•Meet all coaching certification and training requirements as outlined by NFHS and MIAA, including:
•NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification
•NFHS Concussion in Sports Certification
•First Aid & CPR Certification
•MIAA Coaching Education Program
•Background Check (CORI/SORI)
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
•Previous coaching or playing experience in tennis, with knowledge of the sport’s fundamentals and strategies.
•Ability to coach athletes of various skill levels and foster both individual and team growth.
•Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
•Familiarity with NFHS and MIAA requirements, including:
•NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification
•NFHS Concussion in Sports Certification
•First Aid & CPR Certification
•MIAA Coaching Education Program
•Background Check (CORI/SORI)
Preferred Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field.
•Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school or youth level.
•Previous playing experience at the collegiate or high school level.
•Commitment to fostering a positive, competitive tennis program.
•Experience working with diverse student-athletes.
Salary:
Per NMRSD Teacher Contract.
