Job Description:
North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a dedicated, passionate, and experienced Head Varsity Baseball Coach to lead our student-athletes both on and off the field. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to education-based athletics, using the baseball program to teach life skills such as teamwork, leadership, resilience, and accountability.
The Head Varsity Baseball Coach will be responsible for building a competitive program that emphasizes sportsmanship, character development, and academic success. This position requires collaboration with parents, caregivers, and the school community to support student-athletes in reaching their full potential while upholding the school’s mission and values.
The successful candidate must meet all NFHS and MIAA coaching requirements and align with the educational philosophy of North Middlesex Regional High School’s athletic program.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Leadership and Mentorship:
•Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes, promoting sportsmanship, integrity, and character development.
•Mentor athletes to develop leadership, accountability, and resilience both on and off the field.
2.Program Development:
•Build and maintain a competitive baseball program that fosters skill development, teamwork, and pride in school and community.
•Develop and implement practice plans that focus on individual and team growth, emphasizing fundamentals, strategy, and physical conditioning.
3.Game Preparation and Strategy:
•Plan and execute game strategies to ensure the team is well-prepared for competition.
•Analyze game performance to identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments.
4.Education-Based Athletics:
•Support the academic success of student-athletes by promoting a balance between academics and athletics.
•Monitor academic eligibility and collaborate with teachers and school staff to ensure student-athletes meet academic standards.
5.Team Culture and Sportsmanship:
•Create a positive, inclusive team culture where athletes feel valued and supported.
•Promote and model sportsmanship, ethical behavior, and respect for opponents, officials, and teammates.
6.Communication:
•Maintain open and effective communication with student-athletes, parents, school administration, and staff.
•Provide regular updates regarding schedules, team expectations, and athlete progress.
7.Collaboration and Engagement:
•Partner with parents, caregivers, and community members to foster a supportive environment for the baseball program.
•Engage with youth baseball programs to build interest and continuity within the community.
8.Compliance with Safety and Wellness Standards:
•Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including proper equipment use, injury prevention, and concussion management.
•Stay informed about health and wellness trends that affect student-athletes.
9.Adhere to NFHS and MIAA Requirements:
•Comply with all coaching certifications, training, and regulations required by NFHS and MIAA, including First Aid, CPR, Concussion Management, and Ethics Training.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
•Previous coaching experience in baseball, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
•Comprehensive knowledge of baseball fundamentals, strategies, and skill development.
•Ability to mentor student-athletes and integrate life skills development into the baseball program.
•Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
•Familiarity with NFHS and MIAA requirements, including:
•NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification
•NFHS Concussion in Sports Certification
•First Aid & CPR Certification
•MIAA Coaching Education Program
•Background Check (CORI/SORI)
Preferred Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field.
•Previous playing experience at the collegiate level.
•Proven ability to lead a successful program and foster a culture of excellence.
•Experience working with diverse student populations.
Salary:
Per NMRSD Teacher Contract.
