Job Description:
North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and experienced Head Varsity Boys Lacrosse Coach to lead our program. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to education-based athletics and use the sport of lacrosse as a platform to promote personal growth, teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic success.
As the Head Varsity Boys Lacrosse Coach, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program, including player development, practice planning, game strategies, and fostering a positive team culture. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with parents, caregivers, and the school community to ensure a meaningful and successful athletic experience for all student-athletes.
The successful candidate must meet all NFHS and MIAA coaching requirements and uphold the values of North Middlesex Regional High School’s athletic program.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Leadership and Mentorship:
•Serve as a role model for student-athletes by promoting sportsmanship, integrity, and respect.
•Mentor athletes to develop leadership, discipline, resilience, and responsibility both on and off the field.
2.Program Management:
•Build and maintain a competitive and inclusive boys lacrosse program that fosters skill development, team pride, and school spirit.
•Develop and implement detailed practice plans focused on improving individual skills, team strategies, and physical conditioning.
3.Game Preparation and Strategy:
•Analyze team performance and develop game strategies to maximize competitiveness.
•Prepare athletes mentally and physically for game-day competition.
4.Education-Based Athletics:
•Emphasize academic success by supporting student-athletes in balancing schoolwork and athletics.
•Monitor academic eligibility and collaborate with school staff to provide support when needed.
5.Team Culture and Sportsmanship:
•Foster a positive and inclusive team culture where all athletes feel valued and motivated.
•Promote ethical behavior and sportsmanship among players, staff, and the larger school community.
6.Communication:
•Maintain open and effective communication with student-athletes, parents, and school administration regarding expectations, schedules, and program updates.
•Engage parents and caregivers as partners in the development of student-athletes.
7.Collaboration and Community Engagement:
•Collaborate with youth lacrosse programs to build continuity and interest in the program.
•Promote the program within the school and community to encourage support and engagement.
8.Safety and Wellness:
•Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including injury prevention, proper equipment use, and concussion management.
•Respond to injuries and emergencies in accordance with school policies.
9.Compliance with NFHS and MIAA Requirements:
•Meet all necessary coaching certifications, training, and regulations as required by NFHS and MIAA.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
•Previous coaching experience in boys lacrosse, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
•Strong knowledge of lacrosse fundamentals, strategies, and player development.
•Ability to mentor and support student-athletes in personal, athletic, and academic growth.
•Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
•Familiarity with NFHS and MIAA requirements, including:
•NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification
•NFHS Concussion in Sports Certification
•First Aid & CPR Certification
•MIAA Coaching Education Program
•Background Check (CORI/SORI)
Preferred Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field.
•Previous playing experience at the collegiate level.
•Experience building and sustaining a successful lacrosse program.
•Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse team environment.
Salary:
Per NMRSD Teacher Contract.
