Job Description:
North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Junior Varsity Baseball Coach to lead the development of student-athletes at the JV level. The JV Coach will be responsible for creating a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented environment where players can improve their skills, foster teamwork, and prepare for future varsity-level competition.
The ideal candidate will emphasize education-based athletics, focusing on skill development, sportsmanship, and personal growth, while reinforcing the importance of balancing academics and athletics. The JV Coach will work closely with the Head Varsity Coach to ensure program alignment and continuity.
The successful candidate must meet all NFHS and MIAA coaching requirements and align with the educational philosophy of North Middlesex Regional High School’s athletic program.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Team Leadership and Development:
•Lead the Junior Varsity baseball team, fostering a positive and supportive team environment.
•Provide age-appropriate instruction in baseball fundamentals, techniques, and strategies to prepare athletes for varsity-level play.
2.Practice and Game Preparation:
•Plan and run organized, engaging practices that emphasize skill development, conditioning, and teamwork.
•Prepare athletes mentally and physically for game competition, focusing on growth and performance.
3.Collaboration with Varsity Program:
•Work closely with the Head Varsity Coach to align goals, strategies, and philosophies for the overall baseball program.
•Support the Varsity program when needed and ensure JV athletes are prepared for a seamless transition to the next level.
4.Education-Based Athletics:
•Promote the importance of balancing academics and athletics by monitoring academic eligibility and supporting student-athletes in maintaining their academic responsibilities.
•Reinforce life skills such as discipline, time management, teamwork, and leadership.
5.Sportsmanship and Character Development:
•Model and promote good sportsmanship, respect, and ethical behavior among athletes.
•Build a positive, inclusive team culture where all players feel valued and supported.
6.Communication:
•Maintain open communication with athletes, parents, and school administration about team expectations, schedules, and progress.
•Collaborate with parents and caregivers to support the overall growth and success of student-athletes.
7.Safety and Wellness:
•Ensure safety protocols are followed during practices and games, including injury prevention and proper use of equipment.
•Be prepared to respond to injuries and emergencies according to district protocols.
8.Adhere to NFHS and MIAA Requirements:
•Meet all coaching certifications, training, and regulations required by NFHS and MIAA, including First Aid, CPR, Concussion Management, and Coaching Ethics.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
•Previous coaching or playing experience in baseball, with strong knowledge of the sport’s fundamentals and strategies.
•Ability to mentor and support student-athletes while fostering their development as players and individuals.
•Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
•Familiarity with NFHS and MIAA requirements, including:
•NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification
•NFHS Concussion in Sports Certification
•First Aid & CPR Certification
•MIAA Coaching Education Program
•Background Check (CORI/SORI)
Preferred Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field.
•Experience coaching at the high school level or working with youth athletic programs.
•Commitment to supporting the overall goals and mission of the baseball program.
•Experience working with diverse student populations.
Salary:
Per NMRSD Teacher Contract.
