Job Description:
North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Varsity Assistant Baseball Coach to support the Head Coach in leading the baseball program. The Varsity Assistant Coach will play an integral role in developing student-athletes both on and off the field, focusing on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the Head Coach to create a positive, inclusive, and competitive environment where athletes are encouraged to achieve their full potential. The Assistant Coach will help reinforce the school’s mission of promoting academic success, character development, and leadership in student-athletes.
The successful candidate must meet all NFHS and MIAA coaching requirements and align with the educational philosophy of North Middlesex Regional High School’s athletic program.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Support the Head Coach:
•Assist the Head Coach with planning and implementing practices, drills, and game strategies.
•Provide feedback and guidance to student-athletes to support their development in both individual and team skills.
2.Athlete Development:
•Focus on teaching baseball fundamentals, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
•Encourage student-athletes to develop leadership, discipline, and resilience on and off the field.
3.Practice and Game Preparation:
•Help organize and run practices, ensuring athletes are engaged and improving their skills.
•Assist in game-day preparation, including warm-ups, scouting, and in-game adjustments.
4.Education-Based Athletics:
•Support the academic success of student-athletes by reinforcing the importance of balancing academics and athletics.
•Collaborate with the Head Coach, teachers, and staff to monitor student-athletes’ academic performance.
5.Promote Team Culture and Sportsmanship:
•Help foster a positive, inclusive team environment where all players feel valued and supported.
•Model and promote sportsmanship, ethical behavior, and respect for teammates, opponents, and officials.
6.Communication:
•Maintain open communication with the Head Coach, athletes, and parents regarding schedules, expectations, and team progress.
•Act as a supportive liaison between the Head Coach and players.
7.Safety and Wellness:
•Ensure safety protocols are followed during practices and games, including injury prevention and proper use of equipment.
•Respond to injuries and emergencies as needed and follow district protocols.
8.Adhere to NFHS and MIAA Requirements:
•Comply with all certifications, training, and regulations required by NFHS and MIAA, including First Aid, CPR, Concussion Management, and Coaching Ethics.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
•Experience in coaching or playing baseball, with strong knowledge of the game’s fundamentals and strategies.
•Ability to mentor student-athletes and contribute to their overall growth as athletes and individuals.
•Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
•Familiarity with NFHS and MIAA requirements, including:
•NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification
•NFHS Concussion in Sports Certification
•First Aid & CPR Certification
•MIAA Coaching Education Program
•Background Check (CORI/SORI)
Preferred Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field.
•Previous coaching experience at the high school level.
•Experience working with diverse student populations.
•Commitment to supporting the Head Coach in building a competitive and inclusive program.
Salary:
Per NMRSD Teacher Contract.
