Job Summary:
The Phlebotomy and Lab Services Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the workflow of phlebotomists in the Specimen Processing area, ensuring accurate and efficient transportation of lab-related supplies, equipment, and specimens.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinates work flow of phlebotomists in Specimen Processing area
- Assures accurate and efficient transportation of lab-related supplies, equipment, and specimens
- Follows all laws and regulations in the processing and transportation of laboratory specimens
- Follows regulatory guidelines in handling/processing of laboratory specimens
- Follows proper policy for accurate patient identification and labeling of all specimens
- Effectively communicates with all NMHS staff, patients, their family members, and customers
Requirements:
- Associate of Arts degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician from a CAHEA/NAACLS accredited program; required
- ASCP Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician, preferred within 12 months after incumbent's graduation form an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Program
- 10 years of experience in a clinic or hospital laboratory in lieu of certification
- Valid Mississippi Driver's License and acceptable driving record/history; preferred
- Good organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills; required
- Knowledge of and appropriate handling of biohazardous specimens; required
