With a focus on safety, efficiency, and compliance, the role involves strategic planning, budget management, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, while requiring strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. As a director, this role provides strategic leadership, goal-setting, and operational management for a department or function, contributing to the overall organizational success. JOB FUNCTIONS Plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates laboratory quality to customers in accordance with hospital policies/procedures and criterion established by various legal and regulatory accrediting bodies. Insure that laboratory department responsibilities are performed in an accurate timely, cost effective, professional, and confidential manner. Establish test performance characteristics, including the precision and accuracy of each test and test system and monitors the adherence to these guidelines. Reviews all quality control records and equipment maintenance records to assure accuracy of testing and competency of staff. Promotes and endorses departmental compliance with general safety and infection control standards. Recruits, orients, trains, counsels, and schedules personnel in the laboratory. Prepares and monitors departmental goals, budget, and performance improvement activities. Performs other duties as assigned while demonstrating willingness, ability, and team spirit to provide optimal customer satisfaction. Assists with orientation/in-service and attends, demonstrates, and participates in required in-services, performance improvement activities (including EXCEL), and other educational programs. QUALIFICATIONS Education Education Level Education Details Required/Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or a related health science field such as chemistry, biology, or microbiology.
