When you are part of our team, you know what connected feels like. #WhatConnectsYou Job Description JOB SUMMARY The Sonographer - Echo Cardiac Ultrasound at North Mississippi Health Services plays a crucial role in echocardiography from neonatal to geriatric populations and must possess knowledge in using computerized ultrasound and echocardiography equipment. This role has specific responsibilities in performing various inpatient and outpatient transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography procedures, completing all preliminary reports, ensuring proper charting, charges, filing data, maintaining inventory, and participating in Performance Improvement activities. Incumbent will engage in ongoing continuing education and performance improvement initiatives. JOB FUNCTIONS Educational: Participate in the training of new personnel. Engage in on-going staff education. Clinical: Demonstrates the ability to perform a complete and accurate transthoracic 2D Adult Echocardiogram across all main unit areas, including but not limited to: portable and STAT echoes, cardiac observation unit, chest pain unit, outpatient, and inpatient echoes. Demonstrates the detailed knowledge of cardiac anatomy, cardiac disease processes and the effect of these disease processes on the cardiac structures and blood flow required. Performs all aspects of echocardiography. (M-mode; 2- Dimensional; Spectral and Color Flow Doppler, Exercise Stress Echocardiography Adu< Transesophageal Echocardiography, Pericardiocentesis, Septal Ablations, Bubble Study, Optison Contrast Protocol, Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt (TIPS) ;) Performs limited pediatric transthoracic echocardiograms Clerical: Responsible for proper charting, filing, and charging of all Echocardiography procedures performed. Responsible for lab preparation for following day for patient schedule and adequate supplies. Responsible for Computerized Patient Scheduling on an as needed basis. Responsible for patient transport coordination via Teletracking. Assists in resolving discrepancies promptly Inventory: Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of supplies needed for procedures performed. Performance Improvement: Participates in hospital and departmental on-going Performance Improvement activities Complies with actions taken as a result of those activities to assure high quality patient care. Actively participates in correlation studies/reviews for maintenance of accreditation and intradepartmental educational purposes. Remote Work Capable ? Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities KSAs Proficiency This position requires detailed knowledge of cardiac anatomy, cardiac disease processes and the effect of these disease processes on the cardiac structures and blood flow. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to perform detailed measurements and calculations in order to define disease states. This position requires knowledge and use of computerized ultrasound and echocardiography equipment. The incumbent deals with the pediatric, adult, and geriatric population. Must be able to work independent of supervision. Must demonstrate excellent teamwork The incumbent must be proficient in Change Healthcare Cardiology system; ability to work-up and complete reports accurately and timely.
