You know what connected feels like when you are part of our team. #WhatConnectsYou Job Description JOB SUMMARY The Pharmacy Coordinator at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for coordinating pharmacy operations especially related to drug preparation, drug delivery, and inventory management. This position requires an experienced PTCB/NHA Certified Technician with strong organizational and communication skills to coordinate the preparation, scheduling, and delivery of sterile and IV admixture products and chemotherapy agents, ensure that area quality and safety are sustained and optimized, maintain appropriate inventory of all drugs, supplies, and equipment, including supplies and equipment both on-site and in-home, support expense reconciliation, and assist with specialty pharmacy administration under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist. The Pharmacy Coordinator remains adaptable and focused in a dynamic and complex environment to effectively interface with a range of stakeholders and support high quality patient care. JOB FUNCTIONS Sterile Products/Distribution: Coordinates Sterile Products/Chemotherapy regimen preparation, scheduling for home/specialty pharmacy and walk-in patients and coordinates shipping & delivery with outside vendors (UPS, etc. ) for home patients in Northeast MS, Northwest AL, & Southwest TN. IV Admixture and Supply Processing and Distribution: Coordinates IV admixture and preparation of supplies for distribution to home and walk-in patients. This includes scheduling of delivery and delivery to patients, using the most cost effective methods, operating within compliancy of State Board of Pharmacy Regulations. Inventory: Maintains appropriate inventory of drugs and supplies, tracks infusion devices and equipment on-site and in the home. Assists with monitoring of inventory, turn (keeping turn over as high as possible and inventory as low as possible). Assists with Controlled Substance Inventory Control. Assists with McKesson. Maintains appropriate inventory of specialty medications and supplies. Assists under the direction of a licensed pharmacist with the dispensing, insurance verification, record keeping and other tasks as instructed by the specialty pharmacist. Quality management is 10% dedicated to Specialty Pharmacy. Quality/Safety: Takes responsibility for ongoing quality procedures in the sterile preparation area and compliance with guidelines for Hazardous Material and Patient Safety Measures with regard to IV and high risk drug preparation. Identifies and oversees initiatives to reduce potential environmental exposure and contamination. Assists with ordering and dispensing of specialty medications. Expenses: Assists in end of month information to be expensed to IS to the purchasing staff, procures medications and supplies from sources and also dispenses to authorized outside sources upon request, and verifies appropriateness of shipping invoices and patient account charges. Education: Engages in education of pharmacy students, new staff and nurses as needed. Chemotherapy: Takes responsibility for coordinating, scheduling, and preparing chemotherapy agents and insuring compliance with NIOSHA guidelines, waste disposal, employee and patient safety. This includes high degree of mathematical skills for dosage calculations.
