* Responsible for the overall operation and administration of the Pathology Department * Evaluates and verifies all testing systems and tests to assure the highest quality test results * Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures * Establish test performance characteristics, including the precision and accuracy of each test and test system **Supervision/Management:** * Directs, supervises, and coordinates the Pathology and Rural Health Clinic Labs (Belmont) staff * Recommends hiring, corrective action(s) and dismissal of staff (if necessary) * Evaluates and provides coaching to employees within scope of responsibility * Prepares staff schedules and ensures departmental coverage * Assists staff as needed **Reporting:** * Review all quality control records and equipment maintenance records to assure accuracy of testing and competency of staff * Prepare statistical and budget reports **Budget:** * Prepares and monitors annual budget within approved departmental guidelines * Evaluates and selects departmental supplies and equipment to ensure cost effective testing and quality output * Strategic planning for capital expenditures and growth in reference lab **Education:** * Educate, mentor, and train staff on processes/procedures within their area * Provides staff in-services as needed **Liaison**: * Serves as Administrative liaison to the Medical Director **Regulation**: * Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines Complies with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues Job Knowledge: * Bachelor’s Degree in Pathology, Medical Technology or related field; required/Master’s Degree; preferred * Certificate in Medical Technology; required * Minimum of 1 year Medical Technology experience with 4 years’ experience with high complexity testing of all specialties and subspecialties of service; required * Minimum of 2 years’ management experience in Medical Technology; required * Excellent organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills; required * Working knowledge of PCs, PC software, and databases (i.e. Microsoft Office Professional: required * Working knowledge of budgeting, financial analysis, goal setting, and personnel management; preferred * Excellent interpersonal skills; required
