**Patient Care:** A nationally registered paramedic who functions using assessment skills and written protocols to provide emergency care in a prompt, resourceful and efficient manner to all patients transported via ambulance services. They must be able to assess, intervene, organize, direct and evaluate patient’s condition. The Paramedic works both the pre-hospital area and inside the hospital under the direction of Medical Control. **Transport:** Provides safe appropriate level care transport of patients (emergency and routine.) **Communication:** Maintains communication with multi-disciplinary team members through a variety of channels to provide care to the patient. **Customer Relations:** As a highly visible member of the hospital, the Paramedic will project the caring, friendly, and servant image of NMHS to employees, other hospital/pre-hospital workers, and the community on or off duty. **Self Development:** The Paramedic will maintain competency by staying informed of changing trends in paramedical practice as well as those in emergency medicine. **Job Knowledge:** * Must possess valid Paramedic National Registry Certification * Must be able to obtain a Mississippi Paramedic License within two weeks of hire * Must complete Paramedic orientation checklist. * Must maintain unit specific annual educational requirements. * Must have effective communication and teaching skills. * Must maintain valid driver’s license/STATE EMS driver’s license * General knowledge of various regulatory and accrediting standards. * Must maintain knowledge and resources necessary to provide age appropriate care. * Must maintain required certifications as set forth by the department.
