**JOB SUMMARY** The Senior Network Engineer at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for designing and providing support to all departments and facilities regarding the use and capabilities of Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs) to ensure their optimal utilization. This role utilizes specialized technical knowledge of LANs and WANs to support timely implementation of networks and user access and works closely with the Manager of Networks and PCs and the Network Supervisor to define, design, evaluate, and implement solutions to meet network system requirements. **JOB** **FUNCTIONS** **Customer Service:** * Provides advice and assistance to all departments and facilities within the North Mississippi Health Services (NMHS) regarding the use and capabilities of Local Area Networks (LANs), and Wide Area Networks (WANs). * Exhibits and perform at a senior level to provide technical leadership to infrastrucutre projects, ongoing support and to perform technical complex problem determination/resolution. * Identifies and implements actions for improving network performance. * Provides mentoring to junior members of the network services team and educates other IT staff members. * Responsible for designing and implementing wireless access points and controllers * Serves as a subject matter exper of routing and switching protocols for IPv4 and IPv6 inlcuding OSPF, BGP, VRRP, Multicast/Unicast and Spanning tree * Develops test plans that include functionality, system integrity, test matrixes, strategy, and definition of test methodologies. **Implementation:** * Responsible for timely and accurate implementation of networks. * Fully understand Server and Workstation requirements for access to all WAN applications installed on the network. **System Administration:** * Administers the NMHS Wide Area Network (WAN) including setting up users to access multiple servers, wired\\wireless networks, VPN tunnels, and remote access as well as setting up servers to be able to communicate with other servers across the WAN. **System Analysis:** * Works closely with the other Technical Services Managers to define system requirements in order to provide maximum utilization of all LAN and WAN Systems. * Provides expert level technical support interfacing with technology vendor support and service providers **QUALIFICATIONS** **Education** **Education Level** **Education Details** **Required/Preferred** Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science Required Or High School Diploma or GED Equivalent willing to accept HS Diploma with 8 years beyond the required number of years of experience Required **Licenses and Certifications** **Licenses and Certifications** **Licenses and Certifications Details** **Time Frame** **Required/** **Preferred** CCNA - Cisco Certified Network Technician Cisco or equivalent Upon Hire Required **Work Experience** **Number of Years** **Work Experience Details** **Required/** **Preferred** 7-9 years 6 years experience in networking Required **Knowledge Skills and Abilities** **Knowledge, Skills, Abilities** **Required/Preferred** **Proficiency** Must have installation, and modification knowledge of Disk Operating Systems (DOS) for microcomputer workstations, Network Operation Systems for Servers, LANs, and WANs.
