The Valet/Security Guard/Maintenance is responsible for providing assistance to apartment residents, security, housekeeping, and other departments as requested, and for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all residents, visitors, staff and protecting Community property.

Shift and Schedule: full-time non-exempt position, which may include overtime on an as needed basis. Sunday 4p-midnight, Monday 8a-4:30p, Tuesday midnight to 8am, Wednesday midnight to 8am, Thursday 4p-midnight

Essential Job Duties:

1. Makes scheduled rounds both inside and outside the buildings to maintain a secure environment for residents and their property as well as company property.

2. Responds to all fire alarms and apartment emergency calls.

3. Responsible for greeting all residents and guests at the front entrance, and being available to unload and transport packages, groceries, etc. to residents’ apartments.

4. Shovels and keeps clear exit door walkways during and after snowstorms. Applies salt to the health center walkway, loading dock, steps and other areas as directed.

5. Assists residents and guests arriving and departing the Community.

6. Parks and retrieves resident and visitor vehicles upon request.

7. When working Valet, staff are expected to greet all residents and guests as they approach the front entrance.

8. Responsible for policing the front grounds and disposing of trash and debris accordingly.

9. Performs minor building and equipment repairs.

10. Checks fire extinguishers each month throughout the building and documents accordingly.

11. Stocks Mechanical room and coordinates supplies per work order.

12. Accomplishes all work in the order of priority set by supervisor.

Other Duties:

13. Opens residents’ doors as authorized.

14. Assures that the Front Entrance, Lobby, Parlor and Library are safe, neat, clean and orderly; notifies appropriate department when issues are identified.

15. Assists in seasonal snow removal as requested.

16. Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.

17. Maintains resident confidentiality at all times.

18. Performs other work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

19. Observes all safety rules and regulations.

20. HIPAA Compliance – follows written policies and procedures to ensure confidentiality of protected health information.

21. OIG Compliance – follows written policies and procedures to comply with the federal and state laws and regulations.

22. Interacts with residents and coworkers in a friendly and respectful manner.

Qualifications:

1. Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively; handle numerous tasks at one time with a positive customer service attitude at all times.

2. Ability to lift and move 40 pounds.

3. Possess a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

4. Compliance with North Oaks Immunization requirements.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. independently. Must be able to push residents in wheelchairs as needed. May be exposed to high and low temperatures (from assisting residents and visitors into and out of vehicles and loading and unloading vehicles). Must be able to walk and/or stand for 60% of the workday. Must be able to sit for up to three hours at a time. Must have manual dexterity for keyboarding and completing office procedures. Must be able to hear, see, and speak.
