Summary:
The Health Information Coordinator I contributes to NOHN’s mission by processing patient referrals originating from our providers and receiving and releasing patient records following HIPAA guidelines. A summary, but not exhaustive, list of job duties are:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Receive and process referrals originating from NOHN providers

Review insurance eligibility in E.H.R. (Epic) and review/obtain pre-authorization, as needed for referrals

Gather, send, and exchange appropriate medical information to outside facilities

Follow-up on unscheduled NOHN internal referrals, including patient scheduling

Utilize systems to track and close referral loops

Receive, compile, verify and scan outside patient records into the appropriate sections of the E.H.R.

Receive, review for HIPAA compliance, process, and release requests for information (ROIs)

Respond timely to inquiries from patients and outside entities

Work in collaboration with NOHN staff members, including timely communication regarding referral and health information issues and responding to inquiries

Assist in dashboard publishing: including running Epic reports, data preparation and dissemination

Epic report updating, publishing and dissemination of dashboards

Provide support for other Quality Department job roles and special projects

Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED required
Experience: Previous experience in customer service and/or healthcare setting preferred. Experience with Epic E.H.R preferred

Ability to work with minimal supervision and effectively prioritize workload

Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail

Strong multi-tasking and organizational abilities
Language: English
Physical Demands: May require prolonged sitting, standing, and some lifting of light objects (up to 20 lbs).
Work Environment: Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive medical information and foster an ethical work environment
