Beach Gang
Work with team of 6 to 8 Dock Workers to unload fish and freight from incoming tender vessels, maintain and operate cranes and other cargo material, and handling equipment to load and unload vessels. Beach Gang also constructs, maintains, and repairs the facilitys docks, loads/unloads freight, and provides support for the fleet.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Mooring/tying up vessels to the dock, operating fish pumps to unload fish from vessels.
- Maintain safety training/reaction plans for hazardous spills, fires, and other emergency situations.
- Operate cranes, forklifts and other machinery as needed. Training required and provided at plant.
- Responsible for ensuring dock operations meet environmental and safety regulations and policies.
- Keep and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Assist other departments as needed.
- Prompt, reliable, and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Must be willing and able to work with other departments in a team atmosphere as time allows.
- Must be willing and able to live and work in confined quarters in a multi-cultural environment.
- Must always be professional and represent North Pacific Seafoods with the highest standards.
- Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Forklift knowledge and operation preferred.
- Crane and hoist operation preferred.
- Basic understanding of fish pumps, water pumps, hydraulic and other mechanical items preferred.
- Physically and mentally able to work and live in a remote area of Alaska.
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Carpentry and general maintenance skills helpful
- Knowledge of safety regulations and willingness to always follow safety protocols.
- Able to work well under pressure, 12-16 hours a day, 7 days a week.
COMPENSATION:
This is an hourly position that is eligible for overtime pay. In Alaska, employees are paid overtime after eight regular hours in a day, and after 40 regular hours in a week.
The starting wage for this position its $17.65
RSC provides transportation from the nearest international airport to the work location and back if you complete the season.
Room and board provided on site. Washer and dryer available in your bunkhouse.
With no onsite expenses, and hopefully a large fish run, this is often a great way to make money in a relatively short period of time. There are additional opportunities for pay such as referral bonuses.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Work involves daily exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, humidity, darkness, and/or noise.
- Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks, such as working around mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards.
- Position requires the ability to stand for extented periods of time, walk around the plant, lifting, and carrying packages up to 50 pounds, utilizing fine dexterity. Requires reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting to inspect equipment. Also requires the ability to see, hear, and communicate with associates as well as others by utilizing professional etiquette.
- Position will be exposed to different levels of stress and responsibilities.
Important Considerations
- This work can be hard, monotonous, and boring. Most cell phones do not work in remote areas of Alaska. For Example: GCI and AT&T cell phones are the most reliable in Naknek, while T-Mobile and Verizon occasionally work.
