Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities in an inclusive classroom setting. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers to implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and facilitate a positive learning environment for all students. This role requires strong skills in classroom and behavior management, as well as a passion for early childhood education.
Duties
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and adapting curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Provide one-on-one support to students with disabilities, helping them engage with educational materials and participate in classroom activities.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback and support as needed to encourage positive outcomes.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop effective strategies for classroom management and student engagement.
- Assist in the development of IEPs by contributing observations and insights regarding student performance and behavior.
- Support students during transitions between activities, ensuring they feel secure and confident throughout the school day.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills in special education practices, including behavior management and lesson planning.
Requirements
- Experience or training in early childhood education or special education preferred.
- Strong skills in classroom management and behavior management techniques.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with disabilities, including knowledge of IEP processes.
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans that accommodate various learning styles.
- Proficiency in basic math concepts to assist students with their academic needs.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other staff members.
