North Providence Public Schools is seeking to hire certified Paraprofessionals.
Hourly Rate:
$19.23
Schedule:
- 6.5 hours per day, including a 0.5-hour unpaid lunch break

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist students academically in all settings on a daily basis.
2. Assist with mobility purposes and daily living skills when necessary.
3. Help maintain individual records for each student.
4. Guide students in developing positive relationships with peers and adults.
5. Assist with the supervision of students during student free time.
6. Provide escort and assistance to students as necessary.
7. Assist teacher in maintaining work and study areas.
8. Collect and display suitable material for educational displays.
9. Given teaching objectives by the teacher, develop materials and group lessons.
10. With teacher supervision, correct and prescribe students’ work to remediate students’ weaknesses.
11. Attend meetings to help organize weekly program of instruction and discuss problematic students and situations if required.
12. Under teacher supervision, participate in discipline procedures and prescribe consequences for student behavior.
13. Lift students during transfers and repositioning as necessary.
14. Assist students with toileting and hygiene issues as necessary.
15. Assist students with feeding as necessary.
16. Attend upcoming Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training for de-escalation techniques.
17. Assist students when met with a challenge by physical needs such as outbursts, running, etc.
18. Work with students in the community to assist with transitional goals as necessary.
19. Maintain a cooperative staff relationship with all personnel.
20. Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing behavior or academic skills based upon a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
21. Serve as the chief source of information and help any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the classroom teacher.
22. Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher, school Principal and/or the Director of Student Services or his/her designee.
