What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Social Worker position at North Randolph Elementary School?
Responsibilities: Provide and participate in a continuum of behavioral health services that include:
Individual and Group counseling
Universal SEL competency screenings
Crisis intervention, including being a member of the crisis team and in training in de-escalation and restraint
Assessments- such as psychosocial, functional behavioral, safety plan, behavioral intervention plan
Collaboration with and referral to community-based therapists, psychiatrists, and other supports, in partnership with parents and guardians
Collaboration with and referral to outside agencies and state agencies, including DMH, DCF, juvenile justice system, in partnership with parents and guardians
Lead the collection and interpretation of data to identify and respond to student, family, and school community SEL/behavioral health needs
Consult and collaborate with other school personnel in gathering and giving information on high risk students and establishing an intervention plan
Work closely with the social emotional sub-separate program to provide consultation, services, and programming to enrolled students
Support educators and school personnel in the use and teaching of SEL curriculum
Make home visits for the purpose of gathering helpful information on a student’s background.
Assist students directly toward adjustment to school.
Monitor and report on student progress and complete all documentation associated with services provided to students.
Maintain sufficient records of cases
Serve as a resource for other school personnel regarding adjustment situations and train staff as requested by administration
Participate in relevant teams, including RMTSS, Crisis, Alice, PBIS, and DESE academies
Maintain student and family confidentiality and uphold Social Work Code of Ethics
Keeps current on new developments in the field to participate in the planning and evaluation of the school counseling program
Pursue and participate in professional development and training
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal or Director of Special Education
Coordinate related activities for wrap around services including but not limited to FSP, DCF, DMH and McKinney Vento
Reports to: The Principal, Assistant Principal
The work day for social workers shall consist of eight (8) hours, including a thirty (30) minute duty-free lunch and two fifteen (15) minute duty-free breaks. Such employees shall receive a 1.05 salary ratio with work schedules arranged by mutual
agreement between the employee and his/her immediate supervisor.
