Substitute Teacher Job Description
The Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining a safe and productive learning environment in the absence of the regular or provisional teacher. This role involves delivering instructional programs, ensuring student care and well-being, and promoting academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement lesson plans as outlined by the regular teacher, seeking clarification from site administration when necessary.
- Teach scheduled classes, preparing a written summary of completed work.
- Maintain control and discipline within the classroom and surrounding areas, establishing positive relationships with students and adhering to district policies.
- Report misconduct to site administration and maintain accurate attendance records.
- Comply with building procedures, promote proper use of school property, and uphold Board policies.
- Collaborate with staff members to address health, attitude, and learning issues among students.
Qualifications and Attachments:
- A valid Washington State Teaching, Substitute, ESA, or CTE certificate is required.
- Candidates must pass a criminal justice fingerprint/background check.
