    POSITION TYPE: Licensed
    WORK DAYS: 190 regular work days, begining in August 2025
    PAY: We are beginning Licensed bargaining for the 2025-26 school year, which will result in an increase in salaries. Pay for the (current) 2024-25 school year ranges from $45,171.49 to $88,774.53. Placement is dependent on verifiable experience and education level. We also cover your PERS contribution.

    Essential Requirements:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed for the position.

    • Minimum Bachelors Degree and current valid Oregon Teaching License with Reading Endorsement Preferred
    • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of subject matter, seek professional growth, improve classroom instruction, and qualify for license renewal by following both state and district regulations
    • Ability to maintain strength of knowledge and practice in instructional skills and strategies
    • Ability to demonstrate standards of moral character and behavior and to serve as an effective role model for students
    • Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, teachers, and community
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with student, staff, and/or parent information.
    • Ability to communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds
    • Ability to work effectively in an environment that can be both physically and emotionally fatiguing
    • Perform physical requirements, which may include:
    • Such alternative to the above requirements as the School Board or the Administration may deem appropriate and acceptable.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):

    • Demonstrate knowledge about at-risk students and intervention strategies for working with at-risk/low-achieving students
    • Plan and implement a program of study following state and district goals/curriculum that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs and development of students
    • Employ effective diagnostic and prescriptive procedures for identifying students at or below grade level and analyze test data to determine academic growth
    • Demonstrate knowledge of learning modalities and self-concept factors that affect student learning
    • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals; establish clear objectives for all instructional units, projects, and lessons to communicate these goals and objectives to students
    • Demonstrate ability to collaborate with classroom teachers to provide and model appropriate instructional programs for Title I eligible students
    • Possess a wide range of knowledge about children’s literature and methods for teaching reading and language
    • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student conduct, and, for the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and attendance
    • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning with the resources provided by the District
    • Establish and clarify acceptable standards for student behavior and demonstrate effective classroom management skills
    • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with parents concerning the academic and behavioral progress of students
    • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, maintain such records as required by law, district policy, and grant compliance
    • Assist the administration in implementing District policies and rules, grant requirements, and school improvement efforts
    • Satisfactorily perform teaching responsibilities and continually evaluate and reappraise professional performance using District guidelines. Assume the responsibility for seeking help and advice and take full responsibility for demonstrating professional growth and needed improvement
    • Serve as a role model to students in the areas of appearance, actions, behaviors, and interpersonal interactions with peers
    • Take reasonable precautions to provide for health and safety of the students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities
    • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulations
    • Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning District curriculum and instructional methods, goals, and objectives
    • Direct and assign activities of assigned instructional assistants, volunteers, and other para-professionals
    • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues
    • Attend meetings and serve on committees as directed
    • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students, parents, and staff
    • Act as a friendly ambassador of the North Santiam School District
    • Perform such other tasks (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may seem to be appropriate to the Board or Administration.

    Mari-Linn is a Positive Behavior Support School (PBIS). PBIS focuses on creating an environment that supports the educational environment. PBIS schools use positive reinforcement at the school level and in the classroom to promote expected behavior, teach behavioral expectations like academic skills, and use data-based information to guide intervention and management.
