    PAY: Salary for the 2025-26 school year will be determined during the budgeting process and will reflect an increase over the current 2024-25 salary range of $107,435 - $120,919. Salary placement is based on verifiable experience.

    POSITION PURPOSE
    Stayton High School is seeking a team member to join our mission to empower all students for life. By focusing on relationships, maintaining high expectations, and encouraging active participation in the classroom and on athletic fields, this position will manage and coordinate the high school sports programs to promote athletics and physical fitness as positive extra-curricular activities and to ensure that all students are able to find a way to belong in our extra-curricular programs and benefit from the opportunities they provide. Additionally, this position will partner with the building principal and other assistant principals as an instructional leader, focusing on student growth in academic and personal wellness. We are seeking someone eager to be part of a dynamic administrative team, sharing ideas, strategies, and enthusiasm to help our Stayton Eagles soar to the next level.
    Job Goal: This position manages the athletic programs, including scheduling, budgeting, and recruiting coaches. It also ensures that the program complies with local and state regulations, facilitates physical and academic eligibility, and works to meet the School District's Mission and Vision. Additionally, the position assists the principal in administrating and supervising the school and its instructional and support programs. Primary duties include student discipline and licensed and classified staff supervision.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    Athletics:

    • Serve as part of the administrative team at Stayton HS, performing teacher evaluations and supervising classified and other school staff
    • Supervise and work effectively with the Athletic Department Office Specialist, Activities Coordinator, and event staff to provide coverage for all athletic events
    • Effectively work with school administration and coaches to ensure all athletic programs and student body exhibit outstanding sportsmanship
    • Coordinate required training for coaches and student-athletes and is responsible for ensuring safety procedures are followed
    • Assist coaches with coordinating game schedules and athletic events
    • Coordinate and maintain school-level direct student-athlete recruitment process for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
    • Coordinate the certification of school-level student-athletes for SHS and OSAA – Eligibility and Compliance
    • Coordinate security for games, including working with the Stayton Police Department to secure law enforcement officers as needed
    • Coordinate to ensure an athletic trainer or physician is available for student-athletes during competition.
    • Oversee and effectively manage the athletic department operations and budget, club account budgets, and athletic team fundraising
    • Monitor attendance and academic progress of all athletes and communicate with students and families as needed
    • Build and maintain strong working relationships with community organizations, community members, and the Booster Club to meet the needs of athletic and activity programs. Attend monthly Booster Club meetings and report back to the principal as needed
    • Effectively work with school staff and volunteers to organize and manage ticket sales, scorekeepers, officials, and other required personnel during sporting events and ensure facility preparation for athletic events
    • Build effective working relationships with the middle school athletic director, K-8 principals, and community youth organizations/programs to facilitate successful feeder programs and efficient facility usage
    • Coordinate the recruiting, hiring, and annual evaluation of all coaches
    • Maintain a current athletic handbook listing detailed policies, procedures, and practices for students, parents/guardians, and employees
    • Attend state and regional athletic meetings whenever possible
    • Effectively communicate all pertinent information promptly to the school Principal and other administrators
    • Schedule and complete well-planned and effective athletic parent nights at the beginning of each athletic season to share expectations and communication systems
    • Serve as an active member of the District Facility Committee
    • Perform other duties as assigned as a high school administrator

    Staff Supervision:
    • Conduct fair, thorough, and timely performance evaluations of teachers and support staff, provide constructive feedback, and develop individualized professional growth plans; this includes classroom observations, review of student data, and individual conferences
    • Provide mentorship and coaching to teachers, particularly new teachers or those struggling with specific areas of instruction or classroom management; create a supportive environment for professional growth and development
    • Facilitate collaboration among teachers within departments and across disciplines; build a strong sense of community and teamwork among staff members
    • Effectively delegate tasks to staff members and provide appropriate supervision to ensure completion and quality of work; set clear expectations and provide necessary resources
    • Skillfully resolve conflicts among staff members, between staff and students, or between staff and parents in a fair and timely manner; demonstrate strong communication and mediation skills
    • Participate in the recruitment and hiring process for teachers and support staff; develop and implement effective onboarding programs for new hires

    Instructional Leadership:

    • Deep understanding of curriculum development, instructional best practices, and assessment strategies; work with teachers to align curriculum with state standards and implement effective teaching methods
    • Use data to analyze student achievement, identify areas for improvement, and develop school-wide improvement plans. Leading data-driven decision-making processes
    • Plan and implement high-quality professional development opportunities for teachers aligned with school improvement goals and current educational research
    • Conduct regular classroom observations and provide teachers with specific, actionable feedback to improve their instruction
    • Work to create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for all students; promote a culture of high expectations and academic success
    • Support the effective integration of technology into teaching and learning; provide teachers with resources and training on using technology to enhance instruction

    Student Discipline:

    • Consistently and fairly enforce school and district policies regarding student conduct; understanding and applying disciplinary procedures appropriately
    • Possess a thorough understanding of student rights and due process procedures related to disciplinary actions; ensure that all disciplinary actions are fair, consistent with school policy, and legally sound
    • Implement school-wide positive behavior support systems to promote positive behavior and prevent disciplinary problems; create a culture of respect and responsibility
    • Utilize restorative practices to address student misconduct and repair harm; focus on teaching students about accountability and making amends
    • Mediate conflicts between students, helping them develop conflict-resolution skills and create a safe space for students to address their differences
    • Communicate effectively with parents about student behavior and disciplinary issues; work collaboratively with parents to address student concerns
    • Use data to track student discipline trends and identify areas for improvement; develop data-driven strategies to reduce disciplinary referrals and create a safer school environment

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Moderate to extensive degree of physical and emotional stamina
    • Frequent and prolonged standing, walking, and sitting
    • Ability to restrain students, respond and break up student fights, apprehend trespassers or student offenders
    • Frequent and prolonged talking/listening conversations
    • Possess near/far visual acuity/depth perception
    • Possible exposure to bodily fluids due to student injury and illnesses

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, BONDING AND/OR TESTING REQUIRED:

    1. Master's Degree preferred
    2. Appropriate Administrative License
    3. Possess a valid First Aid card if required
    4. Possess a valid Oregon Driver’s license
    5. Bloodborne Pathogens Training/Hepatitis B Shot Series Training if required
