Job Description:
Part-Time Gym Assistant
Campus Location: Lynn
Work Schedule: 20 hours a week, non-benefited. See schedule below. Availability during these times is required:
- Mondays 11-1:00; 1:30-6
- Tuesdays 1:30-6
- Wednesdays 1:30-6
- Thursdays 1:30-6
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Gym Assistant will support the daily operations of the college's gym facilities by assisting the Office of Student Engagement with tracking students' participation, collecting data, enforcing gym rules, and ensuring the gym space is organized and welcoming. This position provides an excellent opportunity to engage with students while helping them meet their fitness and wellness goals. The Gym Assistant will contribute to creating a positive and motivating environment for all NSCC students, faculty and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist students in tracking their participation within the gym.
- Collect data on student engagement and gym usage to support program improvements.
- Assists with the coordination of OSE events.
- Assists with data collection and management for the office.
- Support student engagement efforts by encouraging participation and promoting gym services, as well as all OSE services and programs.
- Provide assistance to students who have gym-related questions.
- Report any maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions to the appropriate staff.
- Help with organizing and promoting fitness-related events and activities as needed.
- Help coordinate fitness-related events and programs within the gym.
- Assist with administrative and programmatic tasks, as needed.
- Other functions as assigned by the Director of Student Engagement.
Supervision Received: Director of Student Engagement and Leadership Development
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time experience in office work, or the equivalent combination of the required experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Enthusiasm for promoting wellness and fitness among fellow students.
- Knowledge of gym equipment and fitness practices is a plus.
- Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
