Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Building Maintenance professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and functionality of our facilities, providing a safe and comfortable environment for all occupants. This role requires a proactive approach to tasks, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to communicate effectively and interact in a respectful and considerate manner with all church staff, members of the congregation, outside contractors and the general public..
Essential Functions (more information is available in the complete job description)
- Provide and/or supervise the maintenance, repair and security of the church building and surrounding property.
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs for all building equipment and mechanical systems including but not limited to electrical, plumbing, boilers, air conditioning, floor surfaces, carpeting, walls and windows.
- Hire and/or supervising outside contractors, and work with the church staff and leadership to track and manage the financial impacts of such work.
- Perform assigned grounds maintenance tasks.
- Prepare, set-up and re-set spaces for worship services, events and meetings as needed.
- Remove snow and salt walkways as needed before/after/between plowing during active snowfall (only during active working hours).
- Replenish kitchen, bathroom and other consumables throughout the building, and oversee the ordering and maintenance of a stock of such supplies.
- Regularly remove trash and recycling throughout the building.
- Pursue irregular projects and needs for building maintenance and care as assigned.
- Ensure that the church is in compliance with all OSHA, State of Wisconsin and Village of Fox Point regulations and required inspections.
- Maintain accurate financial and work records of all maintenance, repair and capital improvement projects.
- Assist the church cleaning staff when needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Basic understanding of building maintenance, lawn/garden care, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Basic computer proficiency (email, shared documents).
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle that can be used for periodic work responsibilities.
- Comfort in working in both independent and team settings.
