Long-Term Substitute: Lower School 5th Grade and Library Assistant Teacher

, a progressive, academically rigorous, co-ed, JK-12 independent school near Chicago, seeks candidates for a lower school assistant teacher opening beginning December 9th, 2024 and running through April 18th, 2025.
Candidates should be at the start of their teaching career and have a desire to support, work collaboratively with and be mentored by experienced educators. Additionally, we seek candidates who have a demonstrable passion for the development of lower school age students as individuals and learners. A bachelor’s degree is required. North Shore is eager to consider applications from groups traditionally underrepresented in independent school communities.
The role will include assisting in fifth grade homerooms (instructional areas include literacy, mathematics, and social studies as well as the social/emotional curriculum) and supporting the work of the lead teachers and supporting the broader school through other duties such as lunch and recess supervision. Additionally, the role will involve leading library lessons in JK through 5th grade and sharing in the daily management of the library and learning commons.
