What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at North Shore ENT?
North Shore ENT is a specialty care private practice dedicated to providing high-quality medical care. We are looking for a full time (40 hours) Medical Assistant for our Otolaryngology practice. Our office hours are Monday through Friday from 8am- 5pm. This team is responsible for supporting the physicians who see patients at both our Danvers and Beverly, MA locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:·
- Report to clinical manager and/ or practice manager
- Perform procedures under supervision of physician or physician assistant
- Assist providers in exam rooms
- Escort patients to exam rooms, take medical histories, record vital signs including height, weight, blood pressure and pulse and document all in patient’s chart
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for transfer to hospital(s)
- Dispose of contaminated supplies and sterilize medical instruments
- Give instructions to patients as instructed by providers
- Ensure all reports, labs, and test results are entered into patient’s chart prior to visit
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies and instruments and keep all rooms neat and clean
- Maintain all logs and required checks( refrigerator temperatures, expired medications, oxygen, etc.)
- Ability to counsel patients for surgical procedures
- With co-workers, responsible for maintaining a smooth flow of patients through the practice
Requirements:
- Must have Medical Assistant Certification
- Knowledge of electronic health records (EPIC is a plus)
- Proficient typing skills
