Job Summary
The CTRS is responsible for the provision of Recreational Therapy services, including assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic activity interventions and discharge leisure planning. The CTRS utilizes individual and/or group activity interventions to bring about positive changes in the client's behavior, be-it cognitive, social, emotional or physical. The CTRS educates the client in healthy coping skills, and available leisure resources to continue the client in post discharge leisure planning and involvement. The CTRS will be responsible for the provision of services according to the current standards of practice. Duties include but are not limited to:
Assesses the biopsychosocial statuses of patients experiencing acute psychiatric crises.
Fosters a safe and nurturing environment that encourages and reinforces constructive interactions amongst patients Assists patients with the development of personal safety plans.
Conducts developmentally appropriate group therapies.
Engages family and community support systems both during and after hospitalization.
Facilitates multidisciplinary treatment and discharge planning through care coordination with patients, families, community resources and mental health professionals.
Responsible for assessing, treatment planning, therapeutic activity interventions and discharge leisure planning.
Utilizes individual and/or group activity interventions to bring about positive changes in the client's behavior, be-it cognitive, social, emotional or physical.
Educates the client in healthy coping skills and available leisure resources to continue the client in post-discharge leisure planning and involvement.
Evaluates each client's progress and the effectiveness of therapy treatment, and records results on daily progress notes follows all documentation policies.
Attends treatment team conferences to exchange information and observations with other members of the team, as well as assisting with the completion of the initial treatment plan and progress summary updates.

Required Licenses/Certifications
- Bachelor Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an approved program required.
- Certification by National Certification Board (NCTRC) required.
- Experience in a behavioral health hospital setting preferred.
- Basic Life Support ( BLS) - Must be current and from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
- Employee must be in good standing (evaluation/employment history, corrective action, etc.) to be considered for internal transfer.
