We are North Shore Medical Center. Our primary function is to offer continuous nursing, medical, and other health and social services on a 24-hour basis, under physician directed care and RN supervision.

What We Offer
Initiates, administers and monitors modalities of respiratory therapy and patient care for all age groups. Possesses the ability to administer and monitor mechanical ventilation upon competency validation for neonatal, pediatric and adult patients. Documents and charts all therapy according to protocol. Performs all respiratory modalities for the comfort and well-being of the patient. Complies with objectives and policies of the hospital and the age/developmentally appropriate care is given in accordance with unit standards. Demonstrates clinical competency for Blood Gas duties including ABG draws, capillary draws on neonates, analysis, Quality Control and documentation. Processes respiratory equipment. Organizes work priorities so that all work is done in an appropriate time frame while notifying the Respiratory Supervisor of changes in workload. Incorporates critical thinking skills into patient care. Interrupts routine therapy to perform STAT orders. Collaborates with the medical staff and other disciplines in order to facilitate patient care. Demonstrates a professional, supportive attitude. Provides excellent customer service. The position requires considerable walking, standing, moderate lifting, exposure to patient elements and handling of emergencies and critical patient incidents. May be needed to work beyond the regular tour of duty. Acts as House Therapist as assigned by department head or supervisors according to department needs.
Assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders.
Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases.
Also measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is an impairment.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Performs a variety of tasks. Y
A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Typically reports to a manager.
Position Qualification: (Training, Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities)
Current State of Florida License as a Certified Respiratory Therapist, CRT or RRT
BLS and ACLS - Must be current and from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
Possess a minimum of one-year clinical experience in respiratory care at an TJC accredited hospital
Broad knowledge of pediatrics through geriatric respiratory care includes therapeutics and diagnostics.
Effective oral and written communication skills
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

- One (1) year of Critical Care experience is preferred.
- Basic Computer knowledge
