Description
Paraprofessionals work under the supervision of a certified staff member for the purpose of assisting a student, teacher, classroom, or program which is in need of additional help due to special circumstances, such as class size, disabilities of students, the need to manage records, supplies, or instructional materials.
Job Summary
The paraprofessional works under the supervision of the program teachers to primarily support one student or a group of students with needs in any of the areas of academics, functional skills, and/or emotional regulation. The paraprofessionals have many responsibilities that occur under the supervision of the classroom teacher including, but not limited to, the following:
Salary: $21.00-$23.11 per hour (based on skills) plus excellent benefits, IMRF Retirement Pension Service Credit, paid sick, personal, and bereavement leave, and other benefits in a 7 hour paid work day as described in the North Shore Support Staff Association Contract.

Job Summary
The paraprofessional works under the supervision of the program teachers to primarily support one student or a group of students with needs in any of the areas of academics, functional skills, and/or emotional regulation. The paraprofessionals have many responsibilities that occur under the supervision of the classroom teacher including, but not limited to, the following:
- Delivering academic, behavioral, and functional skills instruction to assigned students in whole-class, small-group, and individual settings;
- Collecting data to measure assigned students’ growth utilizing a variety of evidence-based measures;
- Implementing individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for assigned students as required;
- Preparing for, and directly participating in, the development and on-going review of assigned students’ individualized education plans (IEPs) as required;
- Providing direct support to assigned students in integrated settings;
- Providing direct supervision to assigned students upon arrival, dismissal, and other required times during the school day;
- Participating in on-going professional development to continuously improve their ability to serve assigned students;
- Assisting in Non-violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) when necessary;
- Assisting in the on-going support of student assistive technology use;
- Collaborating with certified staff to provide a multi-disciplinary and seamless educational experience for students.
- Collaborating with the Team to constructively address student, staff, and parent concerns;
- Other duties as assigned by an administrator.
- Must hold the state paraprofessional or substitute license
