What are the responsibilities and job description for the (1.0 FTE) Student Services Coordinator position at North Shore School District 112?
- Assists with recruitment and selection of staff for related services and instructional programs
- Assists with the ongoing review of the department’s curriculum and instructional resources
- Gathers input and feedback from staff and administrators on matters related to the department’s curriculum, assessment, and department initiatives
- Manages and oversees the writing and maintenance of federal and state grants (including but not limited to IDEA Consolidated)
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and district policies and regulations.
- Assists with the development of comprehensive staff development plans for related services and instructional programs
- Assists with the development of individualized programs for children with special needs
- Facilitates teams to develop effective behavior management, intervention and assessment plans
- Provides or facilitates formal training and in-service of staff and/or parents, including but not limited to: IDEA, MTSS, NVCI (CPI), Instruction, Disability Awareness, supports for students/families
- Provides updates on legal matters concerning special education and related services
- Collaborates with the Teaching & Learning Department on with the development of the district’s assessment plan
- Assists in the analysis of data
- Collaborates with the Technology Department and Teaching & Learning Department for the implementation of all online curriculum and assessment resources
- Serves as a liaison to all district departments and building leadership
- Communicates with other school districts (including District 113) regarding District 112’s special education programming
- Communicates with parents and other community members regarding the special education processes, continuum, and resources
- Maintains relationships with community organizations
- Assists with parent outreach and advocacy
- Working with building personnel to acquire resources and services, e.g. grants, specialized evaluations, community service support
- Oversees Extended School Year (ESY)
- Regularly visits schools and supports staff
- Supervises and evaluates the Student Services Instructional Coaches and Assistive Technology and Inclusion Specialist
- Facilitates Multidisciplinary Conferences/Individualized Education Plans, Annual Review, Child Study and Problem Team meetings as needed
- Assists staff with determination of appropriate options on the educational continuum
- Contributes to the District budget assigned to the department, including developing and monitoring assigned budgets
- Assists with conflict resolution and problem solving
- Supports building teams with best allocation of district resources
- Supports buildings in facilitating inclusive environments
- Supports supervision and evaluation of instructional programs
- Assists with the supervision of special education and related support staff
- Supports district and school improvement planning
- Works with administrators to facilitate the integration of effective instructional practices into all classrooms
- Attends to all other duties as assigned

- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, on occasion, the noise level will be loud.
- Work is usually conducted indoors. This work could be conducted at any school location or off-campus at a school event.

Primary Function:
Under the general direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, the Coordinator for Student Services shall be responsible for overseeing and coordinating various aspects related to student well-being, support, and related and instructional services. The coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing a range of support services to meet the diverse needs of students within the school district.

Contract Terms:
Salary: $118,000.00 per year plus excellent benefits including full Board-paid contributions to TRS/THIS, Board-paid family health insurance, 15 sick days, 3 personal, 5 bereavement leave, 25 vacation days, and other benefits.
Work Year: 12 months, beginning July 1 - June 30.
