What are the responsibilities and job description for the (1.0 FTE) Technology Specialist position at North Shore School District 112?
- Direct On-Site Support: Provide critical IT (Information Technology) support services across school campuses, focusing on the immediate resolution of technology issues that affect students and staff directly.
- Proactive Problem Solving: Anticipate and resolve technology issues to minimize disruptions and maintain continuous improvement in technology integration.
- Help Desk Management: Actively maintain Help Desk tickets, prioritize tasks, and communicate resolutions in a timely manner to end users to ensure a quality technical environment.
- Comprehensive Tech Maintenance: Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and routine troubleshooting of all district technology, including desktops, laptops, iPad devices, displays, printers, audio/visual equipment, and all other devices found in a typical school environment.
- Inventory Coordination: Help coordinate and manage the District’s technology inventory.
- Vendor Collaboration: Work collaboratively with outside vendors on various systems and projects to ensure the functionality of systems.
- Event Technology Setup: Set up and break down technology for school and district meetings, training, and events.
- Comprehensive Training and Development: Provide training to district employees on new hardware and software updates, and create and maintain relevant training materials.
- Continual Learning Commitment: Stay up to date on the latest technology trends, including attending training for district hardware and software platforms.
- Peer Support and Training: Assist and train other members of the Technology Services as needed.
- Adaptive Role Fulfillment: Perform other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional customer support.
- Ability to understand and utilize a wide range of technologies and software applications.
- Knowledge of Apple hardware, software, and networking issues.
- Knowledge of Google Workspace.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate effective management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team to contribute to effective use of technology across the district.
- Highly organized and capable of efficiently tracking multiple priorities.
- Willingness to work in a variety of locations/buildings and travel throughout the day.
- Proficiency in typing and word processing.
- Additional technological knowledge is preferred.
- College degree and/or relevant IT certifications preferred.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk and hear.
- The employee is frequently required to stand; walk, operate office and computer equipment; reach with hands and arms and will repeat actions with the same hand, arm or finger motion.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. In addition, the ability to withstand long-term use of computer monitors is required.

Salary: $25.48 per hour per the NSSSA Collective Bargaining Agreement plus excellent benefits including full individual health and dental insurance paid for by the Board of Education, IMRF Retirement Pension Service Credit, paid sick, personal, and bereavement leave, and other benefits in a 8 hour paid work day, 12 month position.

Selection Procedure:
