Description
The track and field coach at Northwood Middle School is responsible for coaching and providing direction to student athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in track and field.
Athletics Coach: Middle School Athletics Coaches will be responsible for designing and implementing effective practice and game/match plans that focus on personal and skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Athletics Coaches will mentor and motivate players, fostering a positive and supportive team environment in which each player can thrive both on and off the court. In addition to coaching during practices and games, Athletics Coaches will also serve as a mentor, guiding players in their academic and personal growth. The role of an Athletics Coach will include communicating regularly with parents, school administrators, and fellow coaches to ensure the success and well-being of the team. All coaches are expected to attend all practices and games, ride the bus to each away event, supervise students before and after games and practices, and are responsible for students until they are picked up or have left school grounds.

Experience is needed in the following events: hurdles, high jump, long jump, distance and sprints, shot put and discus.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policy(ies) and procedures.
- Instructs and demonstrates skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement in track and field.
- Plans and sets-up activities and practices.
- Ensures that proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of all athletic equipment and uniforms and updated inventories are adhered to.
- Supervises students at home and away games and ensures appropriate behavior.
- Ensures that appropriate rules and regulations regarding the conduct and eligibility of athletic activities and athletes are explained and followed.
- Maintains a safe environment and facilities for student athletes at all times

Important Considerations
- Track and Field starts on Monday, March 31st and goes through Saturday, May 24th.
- Practice is after school every day from 2:50-4:00pm
- Meets are scheduled throughout the season during the week.
- Extended IESA season compensation is $100 per week. Overnight stays for IESA events is $140 a night.
