North Shore Senior Center has an exciting opportunity for a creative and motivated graduate student or recent graduate to gain real-world experience in publication design while making a meaningful impact on the aging community.
Project: Special Edition Magazine Designer
Compensation: $1,000
Project Overview: NSSC is seeking a talented and creative college graduate student to design a special edition of the organization’s magazine Engage. This edition will highlight how NSSC partners with individuals on their aging journey, with a focus on memory care, caregiver resources, support groups, and therapy & counseling. The selected candidate will work closely with NSSC’s Marketing & Communications team and will have the opportunity to create a high-quality publication that will be a valuable addition to their professional portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
· Design the layout and overall aesthetic of the Engage special edition using NSSC’s branding assets.
· Organize and structure provided content, including articles, images, and program details.
· Collaborate with NSSC’s Marketing & Communications team to ensure alignment with organizational goals and messaging.
· Incorporate visually appealing graphics, typography, and formatting to enhance readability and engagement.
· Finalize the magazine design for both print and digital distribution.
Qualifications:
· Recent college graduates or graduates with a degree in Graphic Design or Visual Communications.
· Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, or other relevant design software.
· Strong understanding of layout design, typography, and visual storytelling.
· Ability to adhere to brand guidelines while bringing creativity to the project.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
· Experience with print and digital publication design is a plus.
Project Timeline:
Project Start Date & Duration: Start as soon as possible with a flexible timeline to be discussed upon selection.
The student will receive full credit for their work and can use the final product in their professional portfolio.
