What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Attendant position at North Shore Youth Council?
North Shore Youth Council, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit community-based organization, is looking to add a part-time team member to support the operations and initiatives of the Heritage Center, located in the scenic Heritage Park in Mount Sinai, NY. The Heritage Center offers a wide range of community events and programs, as well as private rentals and park stewardship opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Opens and closes the building for rentals, private events, meetings, programs, etc.
- Cleans and maintains building, bathrooms, and grounds as necessary
- Sets up and breaks down the room for events with tables, chairs, and other needed equipment
- Ensures the health and safety of all staff and patrons during events
- Handles phone calls and in-person inquiries
- Engages clients, patrons, and visitors with a friendly, helpful attitude
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Strong ability to multitask, take initiative, and work well under pressure
- Positive attitude, good judgment, and professional demeanor
- Be able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of time, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds
