- Operate fiber optic jetting equipment to efficiently blow fiber optic cables through microducts, ensuring smooth and accurate installation.
- Manually pulling fiber optic cable through conduits or ducts, often using specialized tools and techniques, including hand pulling, using pullers, and other tools.
- Connecting and terminating fiber optic cables using appropriate connectors and techniques.
- Performing tests to ensure the integrity and functionality of the installed fiber optic network.
- Safely operate and maintain fiber optic jetting machines, as well as any necessary tools and equipment, while also adhering to safety regulations and procedures during all phases of installation.
- Conduct site assessments to determine the best installation methods and evaluate the conditions for fiber optic jetting.
- Work closely with other employees, technicians, and project managers to ensure the successful completion of installation projects.
- Resolve any issues that may arise during the installation process, including problems with ducting, jetting equipment, or fiber cable installation.
- Interpreting blueprints and other technical drawings to plan and execute installations.
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
- Valid state driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
- CDL Class “A” driver license is preferred
- Must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check and a DOT physical exam to attain a valid medical card
- Strong Communication Skills to effectively interact with both clients and team members
- Organizational Skills to track materials, tools, and project documentation
- 3 Years of Experience in fiber optic cable installation: Experience with blowing, jetting, and pulling fiber optic cables including technical knowledge of fiber optic cable systems, microduct technology, and jetting processes
- Able and available to travel for work - with paid hotels and/or per diem for meals and hotels
- Knowledge of fiber optic testing; Familiarity with testing equipment like OTDRs, power meters, and laser sources is preferred
- The ability to lift, pull, and manipulate tools, heavy equipment, materials and cables
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and be able to follow blueprints accurately for jetting and installations
- Experience with Microduct Technology
- Fiber Optic Certifications
- Routinely: work with arms above and below shoulder level, at heights in confined spaces and alone in remote locations, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, use ladder, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift objects greater than 55 pounds
- Occasionally: use keyboard and mouse
