What are the responsibilities and job description for the Foreman Telecom Underground position at North Sky Communications?
The Foreman plays a pivotal role in overseeing underground construction activities, ensuring seamless execution while adhering to stringent code and safety regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the crew to guarantee that all construction operations meet customer and industry specifications.
- Maintain the highest level of safety and quality control requirements.
- Educate and enforce adherence to OSHA and Company Fall Safety procedures.
- As the crew leader, ensure accurate and timely submission of dailies and production reports.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 1-3 years of prior experience in construction, cable, telecommunications, or related industries; leadership experience is preferred.
- Able to perform physical tasks required for the entire assigned shift.
- Ability to operate various types of trucks and equipment.
- Drive and/or operate diesel or gasoline powered equipment to/from/on jobsite (CDL preferred).
- Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations and policies.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc. in achieving North Sky's goals.
Essential Physical Requirements
- Climb into and out of equipment (trucks, cars, backhoes, trenchers, etc.).
- Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
- Repetitive motion with hand, wrist, feet, head, and shoulder.
- Work in congested or remote areas.
- Work while standing or sitting for several hours at a time.
- Must be able to work in small/sometimes confined areas.
- Must be able to work in variable heights/depths.
- Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
- Reach, bend, and stoop while performing work.
- Maintain visual and audible contact with other crew members and moving objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.
- Work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, and hardhat.
- Work in extreme weather conditions depending on geographical location (below freezing to over 100 degrees and in very windy conditions).
Hours/Schedules are determined based on Region and Customer Needs and in compliance with any regulations; on average must be able to perform the above for at least 8 hours per day 5 days per week. Weekend work/Overtime is dependent on Work Load. Some travel may be required.
