Position Summary :

North Sky Construction is seeking a Carpenter I who wants a career, not just a job to join our group. As a Carpenter I for our company, you need to possess the following abilities, including, but not limited to :

  • A strong working knowledge of commercial construction methods and practices.
  • Ability to read / understand blueprints / specifications / shop drawings and field orders to determine job tasks.
  • Understand and follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Manage and control material and equipment inventories.
  • Work with materials such as metal, wood, plastic, fiberglass, drywall, and concrete.
  • Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure without fear of failing.
  • Utilize tools such as saws, drills, and sanders to repair and erect structures.
  • Join materials with nails, screws, staples, and adhesives.
  • Perform general construction demolition.
  • Ability to accurately layout, and efficiently frame metal and wood wall and parapet assemblies.
  • Accurately install blocking wood and metal materials to support wall-mounted items.
  • Correctly and efficiently set door frame and window assemblies.
  • Install and adjust door hardware.
  • Install restroom accessories and partitions.
  • Assemble and install casework, trim, countertops, and windowsills.
  • Safely erect and work on ladders and scaffolding.
  • Identify and report on areas impacted.
  • Remediation of all foreign agents from the structure.
  • Evaluate and document readings for acceptable levels.
  • Perform set up and clean up tasks at job sites.
  • And, perform other duties and assigned.

  • Willing desire to better themselves professionally by attending NDSC courses.
  • Qualifications :

  • High School graduate or GED (Required).
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record (Required).
  • Ability to pass a background check (Required).
  • Preferred eight years carpentry experience working in a variety of settings.
  • Professional communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong math & analytical skills.
  • Familiar with safe usage of tools and equipment.
  • Be able to lift and carry up-to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to travel when necessary.
  • Willing to work in all weather conditions.
  • OSHA 10-hour Card, or willing to obtain an OSHA 10-hour Card.
  • Driver's license and a clear driving record (Required).
  • Must be willing to obtain a Commercial Drivers License / Group A classification.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening (Required).

  • Position involves standing for extended periods of time.
  • Be able to communicate effectively in a typical field environment with an above-standard level of noise.
  • Sit, bend, walk, and lift to 75 pounds at any given time.
  • Visit multiple construction job sites which the employee will be expose to dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme temperatures.
  • Be able to move around prospective or current project sites, including climbing ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, walking long distances, and climbing stairs.
