What are the responsibilities and job description for the Apprentice Lineman - Rotational position at North Slope Borough?
All Borough employees who occupy positions where federal law mandates testing shall comply with the requirements of the federal regulations and will be subject to pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion return to duty and follow-up testing. [*This position becomes subject to federally mandated testing upon obtaining a CDL; employees must pass a pre-employment test upon obtaining a CDL].
Perform a variety of electrical work under the direction of a Journeyman Lineman such as construction, maintenance and repair of systems for the utilitzation and distribution of electrical energy.

Maintain records of training hours in different tasks assigned and maintain logs of activities as required.
Attend training to maintain and/or improve certifications and skills in accordance with the rules and regulations adopted by the State and Federally Registered Apprenticeship Program.
Construct, maintain, and repair high voltage electrical distribution systems in all North Slope Borough villages.
Install and repair service entrances, street lights, transformers, pad mount and manual phase switches.
Climb utility poles to perform maintenance and repairs.
Drive and operate High Voltage Line Vehicle (cherrypicker) upon obtaining a commercial driver's license.
Travel to and work within North Slope Borough villages.
Comply with all safety standards and regulations.
Respond to emergency calls, 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week, when assigned on-call status.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of North Slope Borough organization, operations, policies and precedures.
Skill in using personal computers and a variety of software applications.
Working knowledge of the safe practice and procedures utilized in maintaining energized circuits up to 7,200/12,400 VAC.
High school graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.
Ability to obtain a Valid Alaska Commercial Driver's license within the probationary period that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria.
Ability to obtain a State of Alaska Apprentice Lineman Certificate of Fitness within the probationary period.
